Travellers interested in the culinary richness of Turkey are brought into contact with local families who will give lessons in local, home style cooking. On arrival, the visitor may be given the opportunity to acclimatise with some tea.
The participants then dive headlong into the preparation of the dishes and learn the secrets that make the food so exquisitely tasteful. One secret is the organic vegetable gardens that most families tend themselves. Another is the use of organic olive oil, made from olives from the household's own olive trees. A third secret is the special natural supplements which the locals find in the fields or along the shores and are unique to this part of Turkey, like the börüldzhe" in springtime.
The visitors can go to the vegetable garden, and choose the ingredients for the meal together with the host(s), and prepare the meal either in the kitchen, or the patio of the house. Participants are advised to note down the ingredients and methods of preparation so as not to forget what they learn.
Like in the Village Bread Baking and the OWAHO-projects, visitors can buy local organic products like herbs, olive oil and almonds.
