This hike starts at Cumalı Village at the beginning of the Valley of Değirmen Bükü (Windmill Bay). We start by sipping some tea for cultural exchanges with local customers of the tea house. In the beginning, our path goes through almond and olive orchards to Değermen Bükü. From there we climb over rocky slopes to the Acropolis of Cnidos (250m/750 ft) where we will have an amazing view over the rocks, hills and seas around. To the south is the Mediterranean and to the north is the Aegean Sea. Deep blue and turquoise waters roll into the various inlets and bays. It is a breathtaking location that affords panoramic views of the neighbouring seas, ruins and the surrounding Greek Dodecanese Islands of Kos, Nissiros, Tilos, Rhodes and Simi. After enjoying this spectacular panorama, we'll descend from the acropolis to the ruins of Cnidos and have time for exploration of the upper city from classical times. Then, we will lunch at Cnidos Harbour. After lunch, the tour will walk to the lighthouse at Cape Crio and back to Cnidos Harbour for a drink. Instead of walking to the lighthouse, you can swim in fantastic water and scenery. Then transfer back to pick-up places.
This is a pretty difficult hike, because there's a lot of climbing and descending on rather steep rocks, (really something for the "mountain goats" among you). But the spectacular views are more than worth the effort. We have an alternative route for people who prefer walking (see Cnidos Walking Tour).
Walking distance is about 6 km. There are mostly rocks and some steep mountainsides.
