Caring for destination

This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.

Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:

Architecture and Garden Maintenance.

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:

Implementation of Architecture and Gardening Projects.

The buildings at the accommodation are mainly made of local and organic materials. Only tiles and small items like hinges come from outside the local environment. The buildings have thick stone walls -like the historical buildings of the area- that keep rooms warm in winter and cool during summer. Small windows and wooden doors further help isolate the buildings. Thus, comfort of the visitors is augmented while saving energy.

All trees, plants and vegetables in the gardens around the accommodation are grown ecologically. The hotel only uses natural fertilizers from animals that are fed ecologically. The trees and flowers in the garden are not only for decorative purposes, but also serve in the production of the regions famous honey. The ecological vegetable garden provides most of the ingredients for the breakfasts. For other items, like cheese, honey, yoghurt, Dede Pansiyon buys from the ecological market that still exists on the peninsula.
