Through this tour the operators implement many practices to keep the area well preserved. The tour stimulates a number of village activities that can be termed as "traditional". These include producing, in a daily village routine, ecological olives and olive oil, olive soap, almonds, honey, wine and bread.
The villagers' vegetable and fruit gardens are also involved in this tour, as part of the produce from the gardens is served in the restaurants visited and the accommodation provided. Visits to the traditional craftspeople and buying their products stimulate their labour. Wherever possible, the tour participants get involved in the traditional crafts ourselves, like in the village bread-baking project, to experience and learn about the pre-capitalist peasant economy.
Dialogue between travellers and villagers creates mutual understanding, lesser prejudice and sustained experiences. Many stakeholders complain that the current practice of tourism involves too many people coming in too short a time, during the two summer months. One of the methods to prevent this trend is spreading the flow of travellers over the year, which is why these tours are also organised outside the high season.
Also, for most part of the day the tour is outside amidst nature, walking, swimming, and enjoying outdoor activities, reducing the use of motorised transportation. In short, everybody has a good time, travellers and local people alike.
